Great second half performance, but how bad were we first 37 minutes . Particularly Antonio, Benrahma and Soucek. We came alive after we scored. That 20 minutes after half time was brilliant though.

If we play three halves in a row as badly as we did in this tie against AZ I doubt we'll be close enough to rally in the last half.

Oh and Soucek 90 minutes again, I just don't get it.

We'll need to be at it from the off.

Albeit we drew the home leg. But we got the first goal so they had to come at us.

The semis going to be a completely different tie with us at home first game.

Need to go out there with a win and then hit them on the break like Lyon.

On another day Aguerd could have easily handled their goal on the line and kept it out, which would have been a pen and memories of last year with 10 men again.

I was meant to watch this live and had set the alarm set, but 'family issues' meant I never and only saw the highlights this morning (without knowing the score) Gutted I never saw it as looked a good night. I won't be missing the 2 semis that's for fucking sure!

Rice's run reminds me of Ravel Morrison's run & goal against the Spuds. What a waste of talent.

Alfs - YES we must go at Man Utd, they have so many injuries and looked shite tonight. Play like we did last week and we'll beat em.

so hard to watch these games here because of the timing and being at work and nobody shows it, but just saw the highlights and what a great game! Nice to see us win convincingly after a shaky start (Paqueta needs to cut out those dodgy passes) - that aside comprehensive and onwards and upwards. Starting with Bournemouth on Sunday!

We have a real chance to win this thing!

How many of you clueless lot had Antonio starting on the bench? I appreciate his is hated on here by the masses, but fmob don't give up your day jobs anytime soon, some even had the snail Ings starting?? Haha.

As I said we should be winning this comfortably, but still good to see us on the front foot like that second half.

Great value for £20 and even managed to get home before midnight.
I will be interested to see how they allocate and price the home leg of the semi as missed out last year.

Just watched the Man U - Seville highlights. Their defence is a mess. If we go at them no reason why we couldn't get a point or three from that one.

Benny couldn’t do right for doing wrong tonight, although not for lack of effort. I think he’d have managed to hit the penalty out of the stadium judging by how accurate most of his passes were.

He had an absolute stinker tonight.

As said, both are reliable. Thinking about it, I reckon Paqueta wanted to make up for his mistake that led to their goal.

Just getting back to Bournemouth. Long day but so worth it when we play like that 2nd half. COYFI

Well, a game of two halves. Unbelievably sloppy in the first half couldn’t pass water. Lethargic, uninspired and looked like a pub team. Very fortunate we were playing a very ordinary team. Really didn’t think we could play that badly TBH.

Second half total dominance. Amazing what a goal or two does, and the difference when you play with some confidence and belief and make the opponent uncomfortable.

Absolutely magnificent goal from Rice and Antonio’s second wasn’t far behind.

We will need to play better in the semi final. A lot better. But we are capable.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Gent - Official Match Thread - Preview
I think the game, like against Arsenal, turned on the penalty. Once we got ahead ( deservedly ) Gent had to come out and tried to “force things”’by throwing a lot of players forward. It’s what we were good at punishing in the season and a half during COVID etc. Moyes sets up to counter attack and once they lost the ball we punished them. May have had more and shame Bowen was denied a second. Didn’t look like clear handball but the ball did bounce up close to his hand.

A cup game they had to throw everything at helped us definitely but nonetheless some well taken finishes.

Still scratching my nut with regards to Soucek and why Moyes thinks he’s undroppable but a very enjoyable second half which we have not seen in a long while
